Florida’s 25th Congressional covers parts of Miami-Dade and Collier counties, as well as all of Hendry County. There are currently 796,422 people living in the district, with 76% of that population being Hispanic, and 42% of the holistic population being Cuban. The district covers part of the Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge. In Miami-Dade, the District covers Hialeah, Doral, and Sweetwater, as well as the Miami International Airport. This region is incredibly diverse, with large Cuban and Nicaraguan communities comprising the demographics of this part of the district. The Collier County portion of the district is covered by the Big Cypress National Preserve, as well as the Everglades. The district includes parts of the county that span from Immokalee and Ave Maria in the north, to Everglades City and Goodland in the South. It’s in this part of the district where the country’s smallest post office resides as well. All of Hendry County is in the district as well. Hendry County includes La Belle and Clewiston, as well as a portion of Lake Okeechobee. This is the region of the district that has the most impact from unsustainable farming practices and runoff from the Lake as well.
